The monster called swine flu first raised its head in early April 2009 in Mexico. The city
might have been in the midst of this deadly virus months before the outbreak was
detected. In early June, the World Health Organization declared it a global pandemic.
This flu is understood to be a combination of human, avian and swine strains of influenza.
Though earlier believed that it passes from pork and pork products, it is now known that
it is absolutely safe to eat pork if properly cooked. Swine flu treatment is largely
symptomatic treatment available in the form of over the counter medication.
This strain is transmitted from human to human. Typically, the virus is found to spread via
coughing and sneezing. It can also be contracted by touching contaminated surfaced and
then touching the nose or mouth. The symptoms of this flu are similar to seasonal flu and
may show up as fever, sore throat, coughs or sneezes, headaches, body aches and chills.
Severe vomiting or diarrhea is also reported in some cases. People with underlying
medical problems like asthma, diabetes, heart problems or a weak immune system are
more prone to contract the virus. Those who get the flu are advised to stay home to avoid
spreading the virus. Though swine flu treatment is available, it is required to be on guard
against it as drug supply is limited and the virus can prove to be fatal.
A vaccine for this flu is not expected before the end of 2009 and there is also a growing
fear that the virus could mutate further and the vaccine might not work against it. As of
now, we all need to exercise caution and take all preventive measures to save ourselves
from this virus. Very young children, pregnant women and elderly people are at the risk
of developing serious complications if they are attacked by this virus. The WHO has also
predicted that the number of swine flu cases will surge further. It is important to maintain
complete personal hygiene, wash hands frequently, avoid crowds or wear facial masks to
avoid the virus. A disinfectant like Smittstopp can be used to get rid of the virus which
might be present on surfaces which are touched by many people frequently throughout
the day.
Smittstopp is a Swedish product. It is a disinfectant available in a spray form. Once
sprayed on any surface, it forms a film of cationic polymers. The polymers are positively
charged and attract all virus and bacteria. Once attracted, the virus stick to it and die. So
there is no fear of further multiplication of the virus. Smittstopp forms an invisible film
which is water resistant also. It is a cost effective disinfectant which can replace any
regular disinfectant far more efficiently.
It is advisable to spray Smittstopp on all such surfaces which may be touched by many
people everyday. These may be office workstations, school desks, door handles, toilet
flush knobs, kitchen counters and public transport vehicles also. It can be sprayed on the
outer surface of facial masks to enhance the protective quotient of these masks. Armed
with a bottle of Smittstopp and good hygiene routine, no one needs to worry about swine
flu treatment.
